Welcome to the Frederic A. Priff School! Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and learn more about our innovative students and staff. I would also encourage you to check your child’s classroom website for up to date, specific information.
Please take time to visit our Students and Families tab. There, you will find important links as well as grade level reading lists and our student-parent handbook. I also encourage you to make every effort to attend our Back to School Night in September and Parent-Teacher Conferences in October.
Our classrooms are outfitted with Promethean Boards for teacher and student use and many of our classes currently utilize our mobile laptop carts for their daily instruction. Students and teachers also have access to our computer lab and media center computer lab, as well as a Promethean Table.
We take pride in our Accelerated Reading Program. This entails students reading books that have been identified as their independent reading level and taking a brief comprehension quiz upon completion. Students earn points and are awarded prizes based on the number accrued. Each year the number of books read by our students has steadily increased!
Utilizing the Renaissance Learning Program we continuously monitor our students academic progress. This allows our teachers to design differentiated lessons to meet the learning needs of each student. Families may also monitor student progress through the review of Student Data Notebooks, sent home periodically throughout the year.
Our character education programs include a Caught Being Kind award as well as a “Student of the Month” award. Our guidance counselor also organizes a “Week of Respect” in order to promote a positive school climate.
I urge students to get involved in the many after school clubs and activities that are offered. I also recommend that parents and community members connect with our Parent Teacher Organization. If you should ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you,
Ms. Ariane Phillips
Principal, Frederic A. Priff Elementary School
