The Ocean Township School District offers programs for students who are eligible for special education and related services for preschool students age 3-5 and for grades kindergarten to six.
The Child Study Team is made up with a School Psychologist, a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC), and School Social Worker. The team members administer tests, meet with parents and staff, and case manage the special education services. If parents are concerned about their school age child’s progress, they should feel free to discuss such issues with the child’s teacher or building principal. The child can be referred to the building’s Intervention and Referral Services Committee (I&RS) or the Child Study Team.
If you know of a child ages 3-5 who may need special education services, please contact the Child Study Team office.
The Director of the Special Services Department is Sarah Reinhold. The Administrative Secretary is Lynn DeNofa. The Child Study Team members are Kristy Nanartowicz (School Psychologist), Karen Williams (LDTC), and Julia Farnung (School Social Worker).
The office can be contacted by calling 609-693-3131 extension 121.

Purpose and Function of a SEPAG
SEPAGs serve as a direct channel for parents to communicate with their school district regarding policies, programs, practices, and services that impact students with disabilities and their families. By fostering collaboration between families and school districts, an effective SEPAG can contribute to the development of meaningful special education policies and practices.
Parental input gathered through SEPAGs can:
- Enhance educational outcomes and overall well-being for all students, including those with disabilities.
- Identify unmet needs within the district.
- Influence the development of programs, services, and policies.
- Improve school culture and climate through constructive dialogue.
What a SEPAG Is Not
A SEPAG is distinct from other advocacy and parent groups. It is not:
- An advocacy assistance group that works outside the system to uphold rights and promote change.
- A single-issue campaign focused on one specific concern.
- A Special Education PTO or PTA, which may organize social events, fundraisers, or classroom activities.
