Waretown Elementary School

Welcome to Waretown Elementary School!  I am pleased that you are visiting us.  I encourage you to regularly check your child’s classroom website for up to date happenings and information.

As we embark on a new year, our school will continue to focus on the implementation of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards through the use of our county developed curriculum.  The use of Standards Based Report Cards will continue and I encourage you to speak to your child’s teacher if you have any questions, as well as view the benchmark rubrics provided on our website.   These rubrics are correlated to the standards listed on our report cards.

Our classrooms are outfitted with Promethean Boards for teacher and student use and many grade levels utilize laptops in order to encourage our students on a path of becoming lifelong readers. With the use of the Renaissance Learning System, we are able to track student growth over time.   Teachers are able to use Renaissance as a detailed data source and instructional tool to help students improve performance and deepen learning.

Our character education programs include a “Student of the Month” award as well as a “Caught Being Kind” program.  Our school counselor provides guidance classes throughout the year as well as organizes a “Week of Respect” and “Random Acts of Kindness Week” in order to encourage a positive school climate.

I strongly encourage you to become involved in any way possible with the numerous events that the Ocean Township Parent Teacher Association organizes.  We also have volunteer opportunities here at school and would love for members of our community to experience why Waretown Elementary is such a special place for our children to learn, achieve, and grow.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.  I look forward to a successful school year.
